The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Visualization Asset is a fully customizable immersive 3D vehicle configurator that showcases all the ZR1 Corvette options available to customers when building and buying their own unique Corvette. As the Visual Artist leading the development of the visualization asset, I implemented all vehicle 3D data, configuration logic, environment art assets, cameras, and animations in UE5. Vehicle options for the experience include vehicle trims, body colors, wheels, caliper colors, brake rotor sizes, interior color themes, steering wheels, interior and exterior accessories, decals, and aero packages. The configurator uses a UE5 data table logic system that directly reflects real-world vehicle option compatibility that restricts users from creating non-compatible vehicle configuration combinations. The functionality of the experience was built collaboratively between a technical artist and myself using UE5 blueprints. The experience gives the user the option to play several vehicle animations including vehicle lighting, windows, doors, convertible, in addition to cinematic environment animations. Several interactive camera angles are available as options including the main orbit camera, a focused wheel camera, an interior camera, and an aero package fixed angle. The visualization asset includes two environment options, offering two distinct lighting scenarios to showcase how the Corvette ZR1’s various paint options behave in direct sunlight and indoor lighting.
Throughout this project I collaborated with direct team members including a 3D Artist, a Technical Artist, a Software Developer, and a third-party vendor for pixel-streaming to the Chevrolet website. In addition to my direct team, I collaborated with Chevrolet Art and Marketing Directors, and GM Design Color Experts to ensure product accuracy. For this experience I had the responsibility of also leading the art direction, which included responsibilities like pitching and building environments, designing vehicle lighting, environment lighting, game events, and cinematography. Certain environment assets required me to create custom models and animations in Blender, and custom materials in Substance Painter. As an outcome of this project, I created documentation for Visualization Asset production timelines to establish standard practices within the Visual Artist role and meet General Motors global vehicle reveal deployment dates.
